Harmless
According to a 2008 report by the Children's Defense Fund, in the United States in 2005 over 3,000 children and youth died by gunfire. Well over half were homicides; about a third committed suicide. Using children's toys as models in series of paintings, drawings and photographs, this body of work aims to address the violent cultural messaging embedded in the marketing and sale of toys of war, conflict and domination.
Night Vision
This project explores the urban landscape at night; a landscape created by artificial light which completely transforms the urban environment. It can bring a certain quietude and calm but there can also be a certain disquiet - even foreboding - that it can bring to our experience of night time as our unconscious projects onto the inherent stillness and ambiguity of darkness.
